Dock the Vote

A coalition of Alaskan fishermen helping you cast your vote

Dock the Vote is a seafood-industry initiative to get Alaska fishermen, seafood processors, and marine trade businesses to the polls in the 2026 Primary and General Elections. Organized by more than 60 commercial fishing groups, fishermen, processors, and marine trade businesses, the effort encourages Alaskans in the seafood industry to make a voting plan before the summer fishing season by using early or absentee voting.

The seafood industry is Alaska’s largest manufacturing sector and the state’s second-largest private employer. Commercial fishing and processing workers live in every legislative district, and coastal communities depend on a strong seafood sector for tax revenue and population stability.

Dock the Vote addresses a major barrier to voting in fishing communities: timing. The summer fishing season overlaps almost exactly with primary election season, leaving many people on the water, in remote locations, and on unpredictable schedules when participation is most needed. The initiative urges industry workers to check voter registration, request absentee ballots early, and use Alaska’s early voting options.
